REGISTRATION PROCESS

All teams must register for Spring into Summer Touch 2007-2008 before Friday 28 September 2007. Teams who register by this date are guaranteed a position in the new competition. Teams who pay their full registration fee by Wednesday 3 October 2007 will receive an early-bird bonus league point.

If there are remaining positions available following the 25 October registration deadline, they will be allocated to teams (new or existing) on a first-registered, first-served basis.

Completed registration forms can be e-mailed to sport@ycw.org.au. Cash and cheque payments will be received at the fields on the first two Wednesdays of the Summer Comp.

Your prompt payment is appreciated, as we do not see chasing teams for money as part of our role.

Team Composition:

Teams will have a maximum of six players on the field of which three must be female and three male. There must be a minimum of five players on the field (from each team) to commence the match.

Rounds:

A repechage round will be played on 3 October 2007.

The main rounds will be played between 10 October and 12 December, with finals held on 19 December.

We aimed to build a make-up round into the draw to allow for replays of rained out rounds. In the event of good weather, a Golden-Try challenge will be played on this day.

Match Duration:

Repechage matches will be 15 mins in duration with a three-minute “breather” in between matches.

Main Rounds/Finals: Each half will be 25 mins in duration with a 5 min half-time break.

Scoring:

All players’ touchdowns are of equal value (one-point).

League Ladder:

3 league pts (pts) for a win, 2 pts for a draw, 1 pt for a loss, 0 pts for a forfeit.

Should two or more teams have the same number of league points they will be ranked according to their For/Against record followed by the number of female touchdowns, and if still even, the winner of the first head-to-head match.

Duty Round and Referees:

As a condition of registration, all teams accept the following obligations:

Each team will draw one round of Duty during the main rounds. All players in your team are expected to attend the fields on this day. Your team is required to:
1. The week before your Duty Week: Pack up and take your Pool’s equipment bag NB. You will have to fill out a checklist to ensure that all equipment has been collected and clean the whistles in warm soapy water.

2. On your Duty Week: arrive at the fields fifteen minutes prior to the commencement of play and set up the fields. Players setting up the fields should look for and remove any hazards (e.g. rubbish) from the fields before the commencement of play.

3. Provide referees for all matches. Other team members should assist as ‘buddy’ referees or with setting up the fields, scoring and timekeeping. Buddy referees are less experienced referees who assist the main referee on the field, but mainly observe during the first half of play. In the second half, both referees remain on the field, but the buddy referee takes responsibility for calling the game, with main referee only intervening to assist with decisions, etc.

All teams who fulfil their Duty will receive three league points (equivalent to a win) for that round. Teams who do NOT fulfil all of the duty requirements receive 0 points. Teams who fulfil their Duty and buddy referees for 3 or more matches will receive a bonus league point.

Wet Weather:

Players should refer to the website (www.cycw.somee.com/cycw/default.aspx) for the latest information regarding the weather. A notice on whether play will be going ahead or not will be posted to the front page of the website before 5pm each Wednesday. If possible, cancelled matches will be played during a make-up round.

NB. Touch football is often played in less than ideal conditions and light showers do not necessarily result in cancellation.

Insurance:

The competition organisers, the Canberra YCW, are insured with Catholic Church Insurances (CCI) Ltd to cover any injury, loss or damage caused to any person or property arising from the negligence of the Canberra YCW, the Australian Capital Territory or the Commonwealth.

This public liability cover does not extend to personal injuries, which do not arise from negligent conduct. Individual players who are concerned about sustaining such injuries, should take out Private Health cover or Sporting Participant’s Insurance.

Social Members:

Each team is asked to nominate a ‘social member’ on their registration form. This person will meet with other social members to organise post-match drinks and other social events. This person should be the kind of person (outgoing, etc) who will encourage your team to come along to these events. We would prefer that the social member is not also the team captain.
