The Fairplay Code

Highest sportspersonship and respect for all players, volunteer officials and referees is crucial to the success of the competition.

All captains are to take responsibility for their players adhering to The Fairplay Code. Any person who conducts him/herself in any manner contrary to the friendly spirit of the competition is to be removed from the field and in the worst-case scenario removed from the competition. Registration fees will not be reimbursed to the individual in this situation.

Players are to accept the referee’s decision in all circumstances. They are not to argue with the referee’s decisions or continuously appeal for decisions to be made.

Players are to ensure that opposing teams have the capacity to play a fair game by not breaching common touch football rules (e.g. If referees are unable to set a large enough 5m mark, then defenders are to set a reasonable 5m themselves). Players are to help ensure their teammates, as well as opposing teams, enjoy playing in the competition

Players are not to be overly competitive. They are to take every step possible when making touches to keep contact safe and to a minimum. There is to be no sledging or any behaviour, whether verbal, physical, or otherwise, that undermines the social nature of the competition.

Players who breach this code must immediately be removed from the field either by their captain or the referee.
